Eye Suspension/DropsWhat is a generic medication?
Generic medications are significantly discounted copies of brand name medication that have the same active ingredients, intended use, dosage, side effects, effects, and route of administration as the original brand name medication. In other words, generic medications have the same pharmacological effects as their brand-name counterparts. Over half of all prescribed medications are for generic medications.

Eye Suspension/DropsSimbrinza Helps Treat the Following Conditions:
Open-angle glaucoma
Open-angle glaucoma is caused by blockage in the eye’s drainage canals. These clogged canals cause eye pressure to increase, which can damage the optic nerve over time.
Open-angle glaucoma typically develops without symptoms. It first manifests as a loss of peripheral vision. By the time a patient feels something is wrong with their vision, the disease is often quite advanced. If left untreated, glaucoma can lead to blindness. Regular eye exams and treatment can help to preserve vision.
Ocular Hypertension
Ocular hypertension manifests as elevated pressure inside the eye. If untreated, it can lead to glaucoma and/or blindness.
Simbrinza Active Ingredients
Simbrinza is a combination medication with two active ingredients: brinzolamide (a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor) and brimonidine tartrate (an alpha agonist). The two medications decrease the amount of fluid within the eye.

General Drug Information
What is Simbrinza and What Is It Used For?
Simbrinza is prescribed to treat high pressure inside the eye, caused by open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Lowering pressure within the eye helps to reduce optic nerve damage. Treatment also reduces vision loss and can prevent blindness.
Simbrinza is not recommended for children younger than two, as it can cause serious side effects (e.g. very slow breathing). Speak with your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
Usage and Application
Before buying Simbrinza online, please read the medication guide provided by your doctor or pharmacist. Most patients are prescribed Simbrinza three times per day. Patients should use this medication exactly as prescribed by their doctor.
Wash your hands and shake the bottle before using. Ensure the dropper tip does not touch the eye (or any other surface) during application, as this can cause contamination.
Patients wearing contact lenses need to remove them first, as the lenses can absorb the preservative in this medication. After each application, wait at least 15 minutes before replacing contact lenses.
To apply Simbrinza, tilt your head back, look upward, and pull the lower eyelid down (forming a pouch). Holding the dropper directly over the eye, place the drop into this pouch.
Look downward and close your eyes for a minute or two. Be sure to place one finger at the corner of the eye, near the nose, and apply gentle pressure to prevent the medication from draining out. It is important not to blink or rub the eye.
If directed to use Simbrinza in both eyes, repeat the above steps for your other eye. Do not rinse the dropper. Replace the dropper cap after each use.
If using other eye medications, wait at least five minutes before applying them. To be absorbed properly, eye drops should always be applied before ointments.
Patients should wait several minutes for their vision to clear before driving or operating machinery.
Use Simbrinza regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, apply the drops at the same times each day. Patients should continue using this medication even if they feel well. Most people with glaucoma or high pressure in the eye do not experience negative symptoms.
Considerations Before Taking Simbrinza
Before starting treatment, patients should tell their doctor if they have any allergies to Simbrinza or its active ingredients. Simbrinza may also contain inactive ingredients which can cause allergy. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
It is important to discuss a patient’s medical history, especially related to kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, and orthostatic hypotension. Patients should mention blood vessel diseases (e.g. thromboangiitis obliterans) and blood circulation disorders (e.g. cerebral or coronary insufficiency). The treating physician should also be notified about a history of depression or Raynaud's disease.
Simbrinza may cause temporary blurred vision. Patients should not perform activities that require clear vision (like driving or using machinery) until the problem disappears and activities can be performed safely.
Some patients using Simbrinza may experience dizziness or drowsiness. Alcohol and marijuana can exacerbate this effect. Limit alcoholic drinks and discuss marijuana use with your doctor.
Patients who develop an eye infection or injury should check with their doctor whether to continue using their current bottle of Simbrinza. The same goes for patients who have had eye surgery. Patients may need to start using a new bottle.
Those who are about to undergo any surgical procedures should inform their doctor or dentist of all prescription medicines, non-prescription drugs, and herbal products they are taking.
Children may be more sensitive to the side effects of Simbrinza, especially drowsiness.
Pregnant women need to discuss the risks and benefits of Simbrinza with their doctor, and should only use it when clearly needed.
It is not known whether this medication passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding mothers need to consult their doctor before using this medication.
Delayed and Omitted Doses
Patients who miss a dose of Simbrinza should take it as soon as they remember. If this happens near the time for the next dose, patients should skip the missed dose and proceed as usual. Patients should not double the dose to catch up.
Other Medications and Simbrinza
Drug interactions may change the way Simbrinza works and can increase the risk of side effects. Before starting treatment, patients need to discuss the full list of medications and supplements they are taking with their doctor. Patients should not change their dose or stop taking this medication unless their physician advises them to do so.
Simbrinza may cause dizziness and drowsiness, so patients should inform their doctor if they are using other products with the same effect. Examples include alcohol, marijuana, and a number of medications like muscle relaxants.
Drugs containing antihistamines (e.g. Zyrtec, Sleep Eze), drugs for sleep or anxiety (e.g. alprazolam, diazepam zolpidem), and narcotic pain relievers (e.g. codeine) have a similar effect.
Patients should check the labels of all medicines they are taking for ingredients that cause drowsiness. This applies particularly to allergy and cough-and-cold products. Ask your pharmacist how to use such products safely.
Adverse Reactions
Many patients are able to take Simbrinza safely without serious side effects.
Common side effects include headache, dry eyes, dry mouth, eye redness or itching, and a feeling of discomfort (as if there is something inside the eye). Some patients may experience dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, eye discharge, or a bitter taste in the mouth. Patients should alert their physician should these effects persist or worsen.
Contact your doctor immediately in the event of serious side effects like vision changes, extreme sensitivity to light, fast and/or pounding heartbeat, as well as pain, swelling and/or burning sensation in the eye or eyelid.
Some side effects – like fainting and slow or irregular heartbeat – require immediate medical attention.
Serious allergic reactions to Simbrinza are rare, yet patients should be aware of allergic symptoms such as rash, itching, and swelling (especially of the face, tongue, and throat), severe dizziness, and trouble breathing. Patients should seek immediate medical assistance in the event of such symptoms.
This is not a complete list of side effects. Contact your doctor in the event you experience additional side effects not listed above.
How to Store Simbrinza
Simbrinza should be stored at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep away from children and pets.
Unwanted medication should be disposed of properly and should not be poured into drains or flushed down the toilet. Patients should consult a pharmacist or their local waste disposal company to find out more about safe disposal methods.
