What is a generic medication?

Generic medications are significantly discounted copies of brand name medication that have the same active ingredients, intended use, dosage, side effects, effects, and route of administration as the original brand name medication. In other words, generic medications have the same pharmacological effects as their brand-name counterparts. Over half of all prescribed medications are for generic medications.

  • How to Use Apalutamide

Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start taking apalutamide and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Take Apalutamide by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. Swallow the tablets whole. Do not cut, chew, or crush the tablets. If you have difficulty swallowing the tablets whole, you may mix the whole tablets in 4 ounces (120 milliliters) of applesauce. Stir the mixture but make sure not to crush the tablets. Wait 15 minutes, and then stir the mixture again. Wait another 15 minutes and stir the mixture for a third time. Make sure the tablets are well mixed with no solid chunks remaining. Swallow the mixture right away using a spoon. After taking the mixture, rinse the container with 2 ounces (60 milliliters) of water and drink the mixture right away. Repeat the rinse to make sure you take the full dose of the medication. The applesauce/drug mixture should be used within 1 hour of making. Do not store for future use. The Dosage of Apalutamide is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not increase your dose or take Apalutamide more often than prescribed. Your condition will not improve any faster, and your risk of side effects will increase. Take Apalutamide regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. Since Apalutamide can be absorbed through the skin and lungs and may harm an unborn baby, women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not handle Apalutamide or breathe the dust from the tablets.
