Is Universal Drugstore legitimate?

Universal Drugstore (UDS) is one of the oldest, largest, and most trusted online prescription referral services in Canada. Since 2001, UDS has filled over 3 million prescriptions for more than 1 million American patients. Our online drugstore can help you save up to 80% off of your local pharmacy’s prices for over 4000 brand name and generic medications through our licensed pharmacy partners in Canada and around the world. Working with multiple international pharmacies helps us have a wider variety of medications than your local pharmacy. It also means that there will likely not be drug shortages on your medications as is the case sometimes in the US.

We work hard to ensure the safety and legitimacy of the medications our partners supply. They are all licensed by the qualified pharmaceutical regulatory bodies of their respective countries. UDS is also a certified member of the Canadian International Pharmacy Association (CIPA). CIPA member pharmacies have served more than 10 million patients since being founded in 2002, with a 100% perfect safety record.

We strive to provide safe, high-quality products and excellent customer service. But don’t take our word for it, our customer reviews speak for themselves. You don’t have to worry about you, your family, or your pet’s safety with UDS.

Universal Drugstore FAQs

Is Universal Drugstore safe?

Being one of the 62 CIPA-certified members, you can be sure that your medications are coming from a safe and reliable source. CIPA pharmacies follow many of the same prescription processes as U.S. mail-order pharmacies. They are held to the highest standards regarding patient safety in order to carry the seal on their website. Some of these include:

  • Requiring a valid prescription before medications are dispensed.

  • Staffing a licensed pharmacist to supervise dispensing and be available for drug counseling.

  • Requiring the patient’s demographic and medical information as well as a medication history to avoid drug interactions.

  • Having procedures to keep patient’s personal records and contact information confidential.

CIPA-certified pharmacies sell Health Canada-approved brand name and generic drugs from licensed pharmacies in Canada. Members, including UDS, also work with a number of international pharmacies from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Turkey. These pharmacies are all licensed by the qualified pharmaceutical regulatory bodies in their respective countries.

Your online security is also our top priority. You can feel completely safe purchasing your prescriptions through our website. We have the most up-to-date SSL security certificate with additional protection from Norton to ensure your information is protected.

Is it legal to order medications from a foreign country?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows certain situations for you to import medications into the USA, including:

  • Over-the-counter (OTC) products that are not used in the treatment of a serious condition and there is not a known health risk.

  • Prescription drug products that are used for the treatment of a serious condition if:

    • The medication is shorted or not commercially available in the US.

    • The medication does not represent an unreasonable risk.

    • The patient confirms in writing that the medication is for personal use.

    • The quantity of the medication is not more than a three-month supply and you either:

      1. Provide the name and address of the licensed U.S. doctor who is responsible for your treatment with the medication, or

      2. Show that the medication is being used to continue treatment that was started in a foreign country.
